Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu, Feb 7 (Antaranews Bengkulu) - The Sumatra unit of the national power utility PT PLN will build electric transmission networks from the Hulu Lais geothermal power plant in the regency of Lebong, Bengkulu, to a number of areas in that region.

Planning Manager of the Sumatra unit of PLN Harya Sidharta the power plant is expected to be operational in 2021.

Harya said PT PLN will build transmission networks of high voltage air channel (SUTT) with a capacity of 150 KV from the Hulu Lais geothermal power plant in the regency of Lebong to Pekalongan in the district of Kepahiang.

"The cable networks would pass over 25 sub-district in three regencies - Rejang Lebong , Lebong and Kepahiang," he said.

The Hulu Lais geothermal power plant will have a capacity of 2x55 megawatts (MW) will be distributed to power relay stations in the districts in the province of Bengkulu.

With the 110 MW power plant , PLN would be able to meet power requirement in Bengkulu for households and industries, he said.

He said the transmission networks would be built by the head office of PT PLN. ***1***
